The Minitaur sounds fantastic. It has 2 honest to God analog oscillators, envelope generators, and all the goodies you want. It feels well made, and would probably stand up to the rigors of live performance. But that's where the problem is. Moog makes a big deal about the Minitaur shipping with a bunch of presets, and you can modify and save those, or write your own, and save them, using their free, downloadable editor. Fantastic. But....really big but, there is no way to know what preset you are on without your PC. So in a live situation, it's very easy to get lost. How much would it have cost to add a little 2 digit display, and a up/down button?

Genuine Moog all around; Analog, filters, envelopes. Lots of fun tweaking. Funky and phat bass leads and a host of other sonic possibilities. A couple of notes; No on-off switch, wood side panels are extra. Of course, since this is a Bass synth, know that pitch only reaches one octave above middle C. Overall nice box. Built with quality.

When the sound you produce matters, there is no better choice. Lots of choices in this class, but few can compare. Moog continues to improve and support.
