Seems like a 'real' safe!
I agree, it's too bad the handle and dial are plastic, BUT for the price? It's pretty awesome. I haven't mounted it yet, it's just sitting on the shelf waiting for superman to carry it away (it's fairly heavy) but will use rtv sealant on the screws - it should make it somewhat waterproof. But just in case it leaks I found that the metal waterproof ammo cans Harbor Freight sells will fit (#63181), not side by side unfortunately but one behind the other with room left over near the top. Still good.

Functional yes, but it is a prime example of get what you pay for mass production.
Good size, but poor quality. These things are riddled with issues in the locking mechanisms and they have a tendency to get stuck. Too be honest, for the price I paid its cheap protection, but I wouldn't trust this safe for much else.

Sentry Safe
I felt the need for a Secure location for my Coin Collection without having to visit a banks Safe Deposit Box to enjoy my hobby . I chose this Safe for 2 reasons: 1) Manual Combination instead of Electronic Keypad , No Batteries or Keys . 2) The 90 lb Empty Weight makes it more Difficult to just walk off with it .

Instructions were easy to understand; the vault has 4 seconds to open along with the circular key; it has two keys provided- so i kept one in my coin purse which I carry always and the other one I kept in my locker at work. I've also registered this on their website; there's also another form that you have to fill up separately as insurance to your contents ( esp those with appraised value and you've to send them copy of that certificate) but insurance claim is stipulated at lower cost(!) ; you've to fill it up and send it back within 30 days (from purchase ? or from receiving the item?). This sentry safe is bigger than I've thought, even placed two of my 1.5 inch binders of A4 size full of original documents, 12-compartment accordion-type folder half the size of legal paper, and a few other jewelry on the tray provided , hard drive, cameras, iPad and iPhone ; passports and keys can fit on the inside door compartment . I'm really impressed at how many items i can put in and still have enough extra space for what not. For personal home safe, waterproof and fireproof, I highly recommend this.Read full review
