First of all I got this item because I wanted extra long wires attached to the headphone so i can dance, jump, slide and breakdance in my living room. The volume is at a below-normal range even if you have your audio source at it's max. This seems to be a product that came out before all the high-fidelity/Dolby audio performance came upon the scene like something from the early 90's. Do not buy this product if you want to blast your eardrums, do not buy this if you want to hear great quality and clarity in your 5.1 surround sound. Buy this if you are sick of those stupid "iPod" plastic crap pieces that you have to shove in your eardrums to HALF-not-fall-out and deal with ear pain for the next day and a half. Buy this product if you don't feel like paying more than 20 bucks for a headphone and buy this if you don't have earmuffs to warm your ears in the winter days/cold nights. And buy this if you want to ignore your family member/girlfriend/wife constantly nagging you to listen to them while you just want to enjoy your pleasant music. "Hunh?! What? No, I didn't hear you."Read full review
The long cord for watching TV makes this product a perfect fit. Also I like the Sony brand.

Purchased these Sony MDR-XD100 for comfort. Ear Buds are evil. Not "Dark Lord" EVIL but close. Headphones are sturdy. They'll take a licking and keep on ticking. Fits even the largest (not swelled) head comfortably. Cable is an upgrade from what I've come to expect and of an excellent length (about 2 meters). Cable is constructed of a heavier more durable material that's virtually tangle proof. I would most definitely by this headphone again. Highly recommended but shop around. Lot's of Ebay sellers sell this item for way too much. Shop around, you'll get great quality for a great price too. Shop around.
I've been composing and recording music (mostly on PC) for 14 years and have a really nice pair of yamaha monitors, so I wasn't expecting much from a sub-$20 pair of headphones, especially after the 'lack of bass' reviews that I read. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of sound. The bass is not really that lacking, it sounds like a creamy smooth spread of eq on the low end. Not as flat as nearfield reference monitors, but very listenable for a wide range of music, not too boomy or tinny. And the set REALLY IS comfortable enough to wear for hours, unlike every other pair I've ever had. Noise cancellation is decent, and there is a nice long cord too. Only complaint is that I'm spoiled by having a volume control near the headset on my other pair, but there is always software levels for that. I'd buy them again for family, etc.Read full review
Great balanced sound, extra long cable, I found them comfortable for a while but after an hour or so the headband starts to bother me. These can't be beat for the price.
