I bought this game for my boys because they received a PS2 for Christmas, and this was one of the games on their wish list. My boys love the game, but there are a couple of down sides. You must use a memory card in order to unlock the 2 player mode (we didn't have a memory card initially, but purchased one for this reason). Also, the instruction booklet doesn't give the greatest explanation on how to get certain things unlocked. Overall though, they have loved the game, and it has been more of a challenge since they have had to figure out parts of it on their own. I would have given it an excellent rating, if it wasn't for the lack of clearly showing what you have to do to unlock certain things in the game.
I bought this game becase I grue up whaching the dukes of hazzard, and me and my littel budeys like to fire it up,like the show. You better be abeal to drive case the genral has crazy horsepower. You have to follow a map of hazzard on difrent mishens but you can just drive around for fun to.I'll put it this way im 34 years old and my two nefuse are 5 and 8,and whe have all kinds of fun playing it. (YEE HAA) This game doesn't have all that crazy music most games have'you no what im sayen dog.I mean you do run from the cops but eglest your not cusin and killing.I think every one needs to learn to fire it up on the dirt even in real life, becase by the time they let you get you drivers licance you can drive better than most people. Now fire that pay pal up and buy that game for your kids you no you whont to play it. Very detailed and fun game. Has all the characters and some of the vehicles from the show; including the General Lee and Double Zero. It has missions mode, or you can free roam around Hazzard County in the General Lee. It also has multiplayer mode where you can race around the mine pit, demolition derby with Rosco and Enos, and hot pursuit. It does get boring after a while after you beat the game, but is still fun. Good game!
I am 36, own a real 1969 Dodge Charger "General Lee", I am a huge Dukes of Hazzard Fan. I bought this game to add to my collection. It took me about 2-months to solve the game while saving the hazzard county orphanage from Boss Hogg's destruction... playing only about an hour each night. I personally had a lot of fun with this purchase and felt the graphics and levels were cool and challenging. I would highly recommend this product to the true Duke's of Hazzard fans who refuse to grow up. :-)
Fans of the Dukes of Hazzard series from the 80's will really enjoy this particular title as it's story-line covers an interesting part of the Dukes legacy by explaining the origins of how they came to own the General Lee. You begin by collecting parts for the car by driving around a junkyard running your car into various icons, and from there move on to a variety of race-based activities. The driving mechanics of the game are a bit on the sloppy side, but in no way are they enough to hinder one's enjoyment of the game in an extreme way. The graphics are actually quite good. I would say in conclusion that it wouldn't be something I would go around recommending people buy in a general scenario, but I would definitely recommend it to fans of the series who have a PS2 lying around the house somewhere.Read full review
