I originally bought this yeares ago for my Daughter. After watching her play for a bit, I just had to go out and pick up another copy for myself. The story is great, with characters that you can get very attached to. Each Character has his or her own quirks, personalities and backgrounds, along with fantastic voice acting (Especially Claudia Black from Farscapoe, and the Stargate TV series). And they all mesh together in a very in depth story that rivals the plot of any of the best Hollywood movies. It is highly immersive and when you add inn the Awakenings add on pack and all of the DLCs, it makes this game interesting no mattter many times you play it. Awesome graphicvs, even by today's standards, and a very intuitive combat system make this one a MUST BUY for the 21st. century. Oh and I also just bought another copy for one of my older Daughters.. I love this game, and all the detail it has. All the side quests involving your party and the effect it has on your playthrough are a nice touch. You could easily playthrough this game two or three times with completely different experiences each time. I like the fact that a set of armor gives you a bonus. This can add a little strategy instead of just putting on the armor with the best stats. If you get all the leather armor (helmet, breastplate, boots) you can get a bonus too dexerity, for example. With a good mix of characters that are suited for different aspects, you can really form your party to your style. The "romances" provide a fun little break from saving Ferelden, and are a nice touch, even if not graphically amazing. I think there is so much content in this game, that the graphics suffer a little. If you like to just blow through games you can skip most of the dialouge, because there can be alot if you talk to your party members often. This game can be intensley deep if you really focus on the herbalis, poison making, stealing, and combination of different magics together. OR you can just run though with the powerhouses and kick some darkspawn butt. The biggest complaint I have, is the cost of the DLC if purchased seperately. I just decided to purchase the Ultimate Edition, because it is cheaper than downloading everything seperately. Now I'm just getting ready for Dragon Age 2. Have fun!Read full review
If you're looking for a way to spend some time, this game has a very engaging story line. I bought the PS3 version, but I know it's also available on PC & for Xbox 360. With the ultimate edition, you get all the available downloads, and I think for a good reason. After doing Dragon Age: Origins & Awakening, the other download elements that play as separate games will seem like a let-down. I played them all in one day, and was done by 4 in the afternoon, mostly without a walk-through guide. But, the two main games (Origins & Awakening) are a blast! The graphics are wonderful to see, the fight sequences are plentiful, challenging, and varied. The process of advancing levels is fully under your control and quite intuitive. All things considered, if you like Fantasy Role-Playing Games or are a fan of Dungeons & Dragons, you'll probably like this. Got Dragon Age Origins included with my Playstation Plus membership, and played through the base game several times on my PS3 over the last year. Wanted to try the several DLCs offered, but was too cheap to buy them (still full price on PSN). This used Ultimate Edition included everything, and installed to my hard drive so I don't need the disc in the drive to play it. Many hours of interesting gameplay for a cheap price.

Dragon Age is probably the best RPG made for a console system. I may be a bit spoiled since most of my RPG time has been on the PC spending hours playing games such as Diablo/D1/LOD and similar, but I have not seen one decent Role Playing Game for the console - until Dragon Age. The Awakening expansion adds countless hours to game play and even at full retail, playing on the easiest mode (casual), you will still get your money's worth with game time. An outstanding story line, great character customization, and the ability to really "choose your own adventure", making many moral decisions that effect game play instead of the typical, do this - do that don't forget this - style of game play. The rating of Good (4 stars) is simply because I think there is room for improvement. Overall, a very good buy for anyone looking for more of a true RPG on the console.Read full review
