Awesome RPG, highly recommended. Has a good ratio of story/gameplay time, definitely improved gameplay from the original series. Plot/characters are likable. Gameplay is fairly addictive. Some extras but not as much as other RPGs. Data transfer to sequel games is a plus. If possible watch the .hack//roots anime series before playing the game (26 episodes), but it is not neccessary at all to have played any games in the previous series. The G.U. series so far is alot better than the original four games(opinion of course). As far as relations to other games, I would say that the gameplay somewhat resembles kingdom hearts or star ocean. The storyline is in an MMORPG even though its a single player game. Lots of weird things happen, but its pretty cool by the end of the game (it makes you want to get the next game in the series). The main character is awesome and has a pretty cool personality (he doesn't take crap from people which is a nice change from most jRPGs). EnjoyRead full review

I grew up with these games and these three are even better then the first four. Definitely play them in order if you can. There's seven in all and right now, I'm on the third one. Can't wait to play GU again.

i love the game because I'm a big fan of the dot hack series games for PS2. i love it as well because the graphics are such great 3D that it almost makes you think your right there. Plus the story gets you so caught into it that you can't put it down. i bought it because i had the game before but i lent it to a friend but he went off to college in another state and i didn't get it back from him so i had to get another one so i could play it again cause it was so fun and addictive. i recommend this game to anyone who enjoys a RPG game.
