Vigilante was released in 1989 on TurboGrafx-16 as well as the Master System and several computers. It is a port of the 1988 arcade game and sequel to 1984 Kung Fu Master (Kung Fu on NES) beat em up game. Lets start with the positive. Graphically the game is almost arcade perfect proving the TurboGrafx-16 is miles ahead of the NES and Master System in terms of graphical power. Now for the big negative! This game can be completed in about 30 minutes or less! This game offers no replay value, no 2 player mode, no multiple paths, no extra options! NOTHING!!! I can not imagine paying $40-$60 when this was released and finding out it's only a half an hour long and never worth playing again. If you like the original Nintendo title, "Kung-Fu" and own a Turbo Grafx 16 then this is the game for you! Just look at it as a more modern and advanced version of "Kung-Fu" It is a side scrolling kick, punch game that could get a little repetative and is pretty short but keep into consideration that it is over 10 years old and we all know how much the video game industry has improved over the years but on the same note will never be the way it was when we were just kids growing up! So if you like old school games then Vigilante for TurboGrafx 16 is a good game to go with! So grab a juice box and a sandwich and be a kid all over again playing VIGILANTE... enjoy! =)
I love many of the older games. Still very good and interesting. A joy to revisit many of them.

This is an under rated game in my opinion. It's not the fanciest or the best beat-em-up ever. It doesn't have the atmosphere of Splatterhouse, but it is infinitely more playable in my opinion. This game is fun and is challenging enough without being so difficult that you just give up.
