If your looking for an outstanding arcade conversion of After Burner or just good fun and some flash 2d graphics, then this game is for you. Its one of the few 2D sprite based games that takes great advantage of the 32X's twin hitachi chips, tons of jets, foliage, building and missile sprites fly by at a frantic pace all with crisp, clear animation. This game is fast(very fast)but easy to pick up and play. However to get really good at it and go far is another story, which gives it depth in terms of gameplay, although its always good for just a quik super sonic blast as well. I have not noticed a framerate drop once and it remains smooth through out. I feel Sega really tried to show off the machines power with After Burner. This is a classic and powerful 2D game to show any game fan old or new. Simply this is a cool retro piece.Read full review
I just bought this game for a little over ten dollars and must admit it was well worth the price. This game is created by Japanese video game designer Yu Suzuki, who created Shenmue, Virtua Fighter, and other old games like Space Harrier and Hang On. For people who know Space Harrier, this is like the same game with planes. For the rest, its a really quick flight action fighter where you shoot down enemies and rack up points. You can barrel roll and use afterburners. The game is incredibly shallow, but considering it was made for a mushroom slot expansion put in a genesis, it's one of the defining games of the 32x in my opinion.
