Basically a beefed up version of Fatal Fury 2, Fatal Fury Special on the Sega CD looks and plays great. The graphics are much better than the Genesis version of FF2, but those scratchy voice samples weren't changed at all, which is a shame given how much personality they give to the game over Street Fighter II. The gameplay remains unchanged: tight controls and a great use of the 6 button controller, but it's often hard to tell which one of the two planes your character/your opponent is on. If you're a Sega CD owner and an SNK buff, this is a no brainer.
I really love Fatal Fury Special. It has good graphics, nice gameplay, and decent music. There is also the ability to go from the foreground to the background. The special moves like in so many SNK games are completely awesome. This isnt quite the Neo Geo quality but still fun.The load times kind of suck but its still worth picking up.
It’s a classic game on a classic system. Definitely worth the nostalgia alone.
