If you are a Spyro fan, and have already played the other 2 'Legend' Spyro games, this game will be a continuation of what you are used to. If you have only played the original PS1 and PS2 episodes, this version may take a little getting used to because it allows 1 or 2 player mode. In two player mode the characters play as an inseparable team and progress often depends on coordinating each player's moves correctly. Requirements are less obvious than in the original series games so you have to work harder to complete the quest. There are more complex graphics and music which makes it fun to play on the big screen. One of the things I miss from the old series is the abundant gem collecting, but the dragons have much better moves, attacks and accessories in this game. They can now wear weapons/armor. Adults and teens will find this game easy to understand and play, however younger children will need someone to read and explain much of the game to them. Overall, a decent adventure, but the quest does drag and become boring in a few places, expecially when you can't figure out what you are supposed to be doing next. We had a hard time locating this game for PS2, and for some reason it was more expensive than other Spyro episodes (maybe there weren't very many of them produced), and it seems to be more popular in other game console formats. We wanted to complete our Spyro collection because we find the characters engaging and play them again and again. This game is definitely worth owning as part of your Spyro collection.Read full review
The Legend of Spyro: The Dawn of the Dragon is a very fun, challenging game. It can be frustrating at times but that only makes the game funner. I have played every spyro since the original games on the playstation system. Me and my 2 cousins always play them together. And this time, it was even funner to play it with them as for the first time there is co-op play where one player is spyro and the other player is Cynder. This makes some levels easier and some levels harder (dependent upon the skill level of your partner.) This game is not as difficult as The Eternal Night, but is not supereasy either. Being a fan of the entire series of games, I definitely enjoyed the game and would recommend it to any Spyro fan or any one who likes a challenge without having to throw your controller or any other object. The Only thing I dont like about this game is I think it should have more minigames/sidequests. That was what originally made spyro so fun on the playstation. I would give the game a rating of an 8 out of 10.Read full review
After playing the first two games in the Legend of Spyro you get familiar with the fighting moves and combinations. While Dawn of the dragon continues with the story line the moves and control do change. I didn't like this part because I had become used to the controls on the first two games. I have not played the whole game yet but it is good so far, but I would have liked to see it continue in the same style as the first two games.
This is the best game of the spyro series, the copy had a few minor surface scratches that caused some loading trouble, but other than that a great game i love to play with my 10 year old daughter (she prefers to play Cinder) we spent 10 hours on it together the first day!
Very cool game. Very addiciting and a lot of action, never a dull moment and challenging. Also has great graphics, I'd say graphics just as good as some PS3 games. Only downfall is it is kind of dark in places so its hard to see.
