Take a blast to the past with this retro action-packed Sonic platformer from the masters of arcade games, Sega! Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble is the fourth Sonic title released on the Sega Game Gear, and serves as the possibly the best one available for the hendheld system. Take control of our familiar hero, Sonic the Hedgehog, and guide him around the many traps, pitfalls, Badniks and other bad guys that the evil Dr. Robotnik has put in his path throughout the various zones, such as the woodsy Meta Junglira zone, or the tranquil Sunset Park zone. Knuckles is here as well but as a villian, tricked into evil by Dr. Robotnik. This time, you have some more help in the form of our fluffy friend, Tails! Both are selectable characters and have their own special abilities and moves. Sonic has a Strike Dash and super spring, and Tails has an underwater submarine and super flying, among others. Each plays and feels different, which makes the game unique and gives it some nice replay value. As in true Sonic fashion, you must collect all the Chaos Emeralds if you want the best ending. But this time, you'll have to go up against Fang the Sniper, an evil wolf-weasel who wants all the Chaos Emeralds to himself. Can you beat him in all his challenges and collect them all? Although Sonic Triple Trouble was released late in the Game Gear's life cycle, and wasn't enough to save the fledgling system from losing out to Nintendo's handheld systems, the game was still a big success and remains a timeless action-packed adventure that will be remembered by all Sonic fans world wide!Read full review
Sonic Triple Trouble is my favorite Sonic game for the Game Gear. I remember when I got it for Christmas back in '94. I couldn't stop playing it. Once again, you can pick Tails as a playable character. His scenario is different and somewhat easier than Sonic's though. On the water level, he gets the Sea Fox submarine(Sonic gets the swimming shoes); however, he doesn't get the snowboard on Robotnik Winter. The graphics were much better than the previous Sonic Chaos. My favorite zone is Robotnik Winter and I found the music for this level to be quite catchy(there are tunes in every Sonic game that people like). I did find the last special stage a bit challenging at first until I finally got the hang of it. This is a game that should be owned by everyone who has a Game Gear. The replay value is good too because you can take different routes and find lots of hidden areas. You should be able to find it on here for a reasonable price. If you don't have it, be sure to get it. Enjoy.Read full review
