Wonder Boy for the Master System is one of SEGA's very first attempts at arcade conversions and also a very successful one since it plays and looks very similar to the original. In this game, you control Tom-Tom, a jungle boy who's after his kidnapped girlfriend, through 10 worlds divided in 4 areas each. The levels are very colourful and show the usual superior graphic quality of the SMS games in comparison to its 8-bit era rival. The music is also quite catchy, if somewhat repetitive. Overall, this is a solid and challenging platformer that will keep you busy trying to beat world after world and collecting all the dolls scattered through them -- something you HAVE to do to be able to proceed to the final levels. A must have for SEGA fans and SMS collectors.
As anyone familiar with the Master System vs NES debate knows, one of the shortcomings for the Sega is the lack of games (114 Master system US releases compared to over 700 for the Nintendo) BUT THIS IS A MUST OWN TITLE. Yes, Wonder boy is essentially the same as Adventure Island for the NES- but the Sega title was the original, had superior graphics, a couple more levels & overall more interesting gameplay.

When I started checking out the product after receiving it, I noticed a smell of old cigarette smoke coming from inside the clamshell case. Also noticed some writing in the manual that wasn’t mentioned. Other than those complaints, everything is as listed.
