The grid-based battles of the cult-favorite Disgaea series continue in its second foray on PlayStation Portable. Gamers control a small squad of wizards, warriors, and ruffians, who fight together in turn-based combat against enemies and rivals, through magical, gothic-fantasy inspired settings. For fans of the series, Dark Hero Days moves the story forward through four deep chapters and introduces a new playable character. Developed at Nippon Ichi Software studios, the game retains the title's distinct style of and animé-influenced art and animation, as well as its quirky, character-driven sense of humor. It also retains recent gameplay additions and refinements, incorporating the "Magichange" ability combinations, the throw-and-receive system, and Item World level spheres introduced in Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice on the PlayStation 3. In all, the PSP adventure features more than 50 original battle stages, and an unlimited number of randomly generated battle maps.

Wacky fun, lots of replay value
Disgaea 2 makes leveling and stat building a fun thing. The humor is wacky here. The game doesn't take itself seriously at all. You can play through the game normally, it won't be that challenging compared to Final Fantasy Tactics in terms of stage design and monster AI. What it is really strong is in the area of item stat and character stat building. It's actually fun to try to be able to do billions of damage. It's also an improvement over Disgaea 1, particularly in the Item World. The Axel mode, dark stages and added characters is also a big bonus.

Disgaea 2: This game is ungodly good.
If you like games where you can play for hundreds of hours, do what You want to do, build your character to you specks, and/or have multiple play throughs, well... This game is ungodly good... I played Disgaea for a couple weeks before I put it down. Disgaea 2 is a game you can duct tape into your console, and never take it out. ENJOY!
