The Call of Duty series is a very successful franchise, no doubt about that. The games has been all big hits, with the next version always overcoming the previous releases at every aspect with improvements, more features and game enhancements, but never loosing it's identity. It's what we call "the CoD feeling". It's latest incarnation, Modern Warfare 2, is another testimony to this nice piece of gaming goodness. And with various versions to chose from, it's fans and collectors paradise! The Prestige Edition is amazing. Inside the big box you get the complete "Hardened Edition", so the Game comes in a beautiful metallic finish hard-case, you get an art-book printed on high-quality glossy paper and a token code to download the classic first CoD game from Xbox Live! To top it of, you also get a functional toy-grade pair of night-vision goggles, identical to the ones the soldiers wear on the game. It's made of nice quality plastic, with very good resemblance to the dull-painted metal seen on so many military devices. It operate with 5 AA batteries (odd number!) and there's no batteries on the box, which was a bit disappointing. You can't use the NV-Goggles out of the box if you have no batteries with you. I also misses some sort of "making of" DVD on the package. But they chose to "sell" some of those videos on Zune/Xbox-Marketplace, instead. A.f.a.i.k. no one is buying, so I hope they will be smart and make those videos free... All in all, a must have game, on a must have edition. But don't get me wrong, this game-box worth every cent I spent on it. Good shopping and enjoy!Read full review
When you look at the total package, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is hands-down one of the best first-person shooters out there, and a truly amazing offering across any system. With that being said, our score comes with a disclaimer. For those planning to check out everything Modern Warefare 2 has to offer – online competition, full co-op Spec Ops mode, as well as the campaign – you’re looking at a no-brainer purchase. For the strictly single player crowd, however, Modern Warfare 2 is surprisingly short, and doesn’t live up to the standard set by previous Call of Duty games. The campaign can be completed in as little as four and a half hours, and the missions make better scenarios and moment-to-moment adrenaline rushes than they do a cohesive, well-told story. If you’re going solo, you’ve officially been warned. Look at the complete Modern Warfare 2 experience though, and there’s no denying its rightful place at the top. 8.5 Presentation The graphical presentation is great, but campaign’s storytelling needs work. Single player is short, and doesn’t entirely live up to the Call of Duty standard. 10 Graphics What was already an impressive graphical engine has only improved over the last two years. More effects, grander environments, and a truly spectacular overall visual offering. 10 Sound Along with graphical design, Modern Warfare 2’s audio is upped substantially. Authentic weapon sounds and more in-game chatter mix with a beautiful adaptive score by Hans Zimmer. 9.0 Gameplay There’s no single AC-130 “wow” moment in single player, but it’s fun throughout. Special Ops mode and multiplayer are must-play, and completely make the package. 10 Lasting Appeal While campaign is short, Spec Ops mode is an awesome addition to the package. Multiplayer is stronger than ever, and truly limitless in replay value. 9.5 Incredible OVERALL This game is available for sale in my eBay store at a good price: http://mariio128.comRead full review
This game is a follow-up after Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which was game of the year 2008(?). It is most likely to be game of the year the next year too! The short but shocking and impressive singleplayer mode, combined with the now new Spec ops makes the game amazing. Adding the fact that the multiplayer mode of the game probably is the most impressive and skyrocketing multiplayer ever made, makes the game perfect. The Prestige Edition also gives you a copy of a updated Call of Duty 1, now with better graphics and compatible on console! You also get an artbook, showing some artwork and such from in the making of the game. In addition to this, you also get a metal-gamecover and the MW2 nightvision-goggles! These goggles work like a charm, and are actually more impressive than what I thought they would be. You get regular night-vision, which is green, or with a regular white color, aswell as regular brightness or ever brighter... The coolest thing on my desk right now has got to be these nightvision-goggles, attached to the head of "Soap" MacTravish(?)! Perfect game, perfect package!Read full review
This game is great and it will keep you playing for some time. The only thing that I was not happy about it was the gear. The night vision was low budget. It works but it was like having a tiny TV in there. After a while it would give you a headache. It was tunnel vision in the dark. Buy the regular version. It's worth your money that way. If you like to have a limited edition version of game then be my guest. Spend the extra money but the googles will be sitting on a shelf. Remember to take the batteries out when not using them.
As a former Marine I used worse generation 1 night vision devices in combat situations. I am very impressed with the goggles overall. Although they are not military issue goggles they have a very good depth of range and a good field of view. They also have an unexpectedly clear view in both gray and white, and green casts. A simple toy they are not and can be used for hunting, security surveillance and any other civilian application not to mention just for the fun of it. Kudos to the manufacturer and the genius who thought of them. The price was amazingly inexpensive. Also they use common AA alkaline batteries that are cheap and can be bought anywhere and don't depend on the purchase of foreign oddball batteries that can be both expensive and very difficult to find.
