Boktai is an awesome series, and Solar Boy Django builds on the success of the first. In place of the solar gun from the first one, this second entry adds a melee weapon system, and the ability to Solar Forge, combining two weapons into a new one imbued with the power of the sun. With an excellent story and the returning novelty solar sensor feature, Boktai 2 Solar Boy Django will give you hours of undead and vampire slaying.

Boktai 2 is a great game, just as the first was. This is still one of my favorite RPGs, next to Tales of Symphonia and Final Fantasy VII. It has beautiful and colorful graphics, great gameplay, and a very, very good story. Plus it has a wonderful music soundtrack. Unlike the first game, after you beat it you can save and it returns you to outside the castle/dungeon where you fight the final boss, rather than restarting your file. A new quest also becomes available involving Mega Man. Actually, when I bought the first game, I had found it on clearance for $10 and was interested in it (even though at that time I had no interest in Vampire games), and played it and loved it. It became one of my favorite games. So when I heard that 2 was going to come out, I was all excited for it, and then I never found it until much later after its release. I asked why it never made it to major retail stores like WalMart and Target, and I was told because the first didn't go over very well because the people didn't like going outside to play it. I think the sun factor is a big part of what made the game so unique. I have heard that Japan has a Boktai 3 game on the DS, but unfortunately, I have never seen it released over here in the US. But anyways, I think Boktai 2 has a much more deep story than the original did, and the fact that you get the option to be able to change from Solar Boy to Vampire Boy was quite fun. Also, in the first game you rely on your Solar Gun, and at the beggining of 2 your Gun Del Sol gets broken, and you must rely on Swords, Maces, and Spears. And to add some more fun to that, you get to forge your weapons at the Solar Smith, and sometimes while forging you might get a super rare weapon. The only thing that is partly bad about the game is that you need the sun to play, and if it is a cloudy, rainy day out and you NEED the light to play, for example you need to purify a vampire, you're kind of out of luck. I have heard that you can use a black light to fool the sensor, but I have never tried that so I'm not sure if it is true. I've tried just about everything else and nothing seemed to work. But other than that, there's nothing to complain about. It's also a nice game because it takes quite a while to beat, I have 50+ hours on mine and I can still find things to do. So overall, this is a game I would highly recommend to anybody who was interested in it. I hope you found my reveiw useful.Read full review
