The Master Strategy Series game Conquest of the World can be described as "Atari's Combat meets Risk." Two or more players compete to dominate the planet, using the included Power Base Unit (PBU) chips, magnetic markers, and the game board displaying a world map. After choosing a homeland nation, each player receives PBU chips that represent that country's military and economic might. Players spend PBUs to form alliances or invade other nations. The concept is similar to Risk, except the outcomes of wars are determined by a series of onscreen plane, tank, or submarine battles. The battles are similar to those in Combat and can be enjoyable contests in of themselves. When combined, the video and board game sequences make for a wonderfully complex experience, requiring much strategy and planning.
