Ths YS series has been around since the ealry 1980's and really defined the RPG scene. Without Falcom and their YS series there would be no Final Fantasy etc... YS 7 is the latest release and is PSP exclusive. RPG's really suit the PSP as you have a great screen, graphics power and it;s portable. The game mechanics differ from the other YS as you can no control a party of people. You start off with the 2 main characters and expand from there as your quest progresses. Each member has their own abilities. You can hot swap between the characters very easily (circle button) and you will need to so you can maximise damage to various enemies. This is an 'action' based RPG so no turn based tactics here. You hack n slash your way through levels and in doing so level up your character. Your companions have non-intrusive AI so they don't intefer much at all and they actually help in fights. Graphics are great. Load time between stages is fast. Story is huge. The big bosses (titanos) that you come across whilst travelling through the lands are well designed. Not too easy and not too hard. Think of them like the bosses in game Shadow of the Collossus. They have certain patterns and certain attacks work better than others. The best RPG i've played.Read full review
Being the first game of this series that I have tried I was walking into completely unknown territory. This game is a fine blend of several games. It has the party system of Final Fantasy, the graphics of Dark Cloud, and humor as well as game play all of it's own. I have not beaten the game yet, but I must say that 15 hours so far into the game I am far from disappointed. This is a great game, with absolutely no learning curve whatsoever, making it great for anyone willing to try it. Be aware that it does have cursing, however.
One of ys best game, its also on pc but the nostalgic part is best at its origin psp console.

Ys Seven is a great action rpg. The story is typical and cliché but the fast-paced action really compensates for that matter. Not an ordinary hack and slash, you have to study the bosses' pattern. Graphics could be better but fit for this type of game. Very enjoyable soundtrack. Worth playing!
