I'm always on the lookout for good portable fighting games. I'm a Tekken fan, and I read positive reviews of this GBA game Tekken Advance...I'd have to say after spending some time with the game, I have to agree with a positive review of my own. Tekken Advance is a port of one of the PS2 Tekkens (I believe it is a port of Tekken 3...but I could be wrong.) Most, but not all of the characters make it to this translation to the GBA. The game's boss Heiachi is available as an unlockable character for a total of 9 fighters. The action, speed, and special moves adapt well to this portable format. The special moves and combos are fairly easy to execute using the d-pad and the attack buttons. There are small changes in control, but all in all, this really FEELS like a genuine Tekken game and not a cheap port like it could have been. The only real sacrifices are noticed in the sound and the graphics. The characters look pretty good on the GBA, but the backgrounds of the levels and the music and sound are a bit flat. Still the gameplay is so solid and true to Tekken, you probably won't notice these inevitable graphic/music/sound debits too much. There are multiple levels of difficulty, a training mode where you can practice your moves, and a couple of other modes for variety. The relatively short duration of matches makes this a great game to play on the go, and if you want a longer challenge you can play through the story mode. If you're looking for portable fighting fun...this one is definitely worth checking out.Read full review
Shocked to find out a GBA port of Tekken 3 exists, even more so to find it plays decently. Controls are simplified and story mode is cut as well as a good chunk of the roster but those that are present have a lot of their moves and theres even a 3 man tag mode.

Yes I do like this game! Its really good except, that right now its the year 2010 and I feel that this game is too old to play. Its really awesome and all but theres not much characters to choose from, poor graphics and it just gets old. i don't know, I'm not saying its bad...its just that when you play a game and its gets boring cause its not fresh or original. But its great :) Its for gamers who love violence or for gamers who want to vent their anger and think the challenger in the game is the person they want to beat the crap out of :D
Surprisingly, Namco managed to take their famous Tekken series and fit in perfectly on the Game Boy Advance. While its obviously not as good or big as the console and arcade versions, it does come with a few modes from Tekken 3 that fit the system real nice. Not to mention, preforming certain moves with characters in the game are much easier to do in Tekken Advance, compared to the other games in the series.

Though the game has a shrunken roster, it is still Tekken. The game is a good fighter for the GBA. If you played the original Tekken 3, be prepared for nostalgia as this game is one of the best Fighters the GBA has to offer.
