Bionic Commando for the NES was a great game. The story was superb,(even though the American version changed the enemies from Nazis to Badds) who doesn't want to unfreeze and kill Hitler(Master D) and watch his head explode? The game was a lot of fun to play and it had a great story. The use of the bionic arm to grab objects or push enemies off ledges was fun and useful. You could spend hours swinging from ledge to ledge like a cyborg monkey. There was a few downfalls in the NES version though. Once you had selected your weapon and communicator before you entered a level, you were stuck with them. Some stages required a certain communicator or weapon to progress through the stage and if you chose the wrong one you were out of luck (there was no password or save system in the NES original). I have gotten to the later levels in the game and chosen the wrong item and ruefully had to start over. The gameboy version has changed all of this. After every level is completed, a password appears so that you can quit and come back to that very spot later. If you choose the wrong weapon or communicator at the entry to a stage, there's an option in the communication room labeled "Select" where you can switch out either. In my opinion, the gameboy version simply looks better too. If you liked Bionic Commando for the NES and you would like to play it on the go, Bionic Commando for the Gameboy is the perfect game for you. It retains all of the great features of the original with a lot of new features that increase it's playability. In my opinion, if you own a Gameboy, this game is a must have.Read full review
