I enjoy playing this game and I am glad that I bought it. This is a game that you can have fun with and if you are not too familiar with the game play of other RE games (like me, I love to watch my brother play instead of playing myself) then this game will give you a good idea. I've been a fan of the RE series since it first began and even though this game is considered to be a side story to the original story I had to play. The problem with this game is that there is not much of balance between energy, weapons, and zombies. There tends to be more zombies than energy and weapons. Of course the creators could not make it too easy. It is also hard to run around the zombies, most likely they will grab you and you will have to battle. Lastly, when Barry leaves and you get the chance to be Leon you can't tell the difference between them. I thought since Leon wore a blue RPD uniform on the box that he would wear that in the game, however he wears the same uniform as Barry and looks like him too. Well, it is Game Boy Color I couldn’t expect Playstation’s graphics. Overall, the game is good and if it can be found for a cheap price I would suggest buying it. If nothing else it will round out the Resident Evil series and help you to understand what happened with Leon and Barry after RE 1 and 2 and before RE 3, Code Veronica, and RE 4. I'm glad I got this game. I wouldn't have thought a Resident Evil game would make for a good portable experience, especially when you consider it's on the Gameboy Color which has visuals comparable to the original Nintendo system. However, Capcom makes it work and makes it work very well. Everything from the music to the unique battle system made this a fun experience. And like the original Resident Evil games, it's not meant to be finished in one sitting. It takes some experience and knowledge of the environment before you can plan a route and find all of the items. I had to start over from the beginning several times but I enjoyed every run I took at this game. A must have for old school RE fans.

Ok, I just got the game in the mail today and I'm already loving it! The GBC is host to many great games such as Metal Gear Solid, Perfect Dark, and Super Mario Bro.s, but none(except MGS) match the quality of Gaiden. The game begins with an unidentified woman speaking with Barry about his new mission that will be taking place onboard a cruise-liner named the Starlight. The woman explains that Leon S. Kennedy was tracking a B.O.W onboard the Starlight and now he has gone missing. The woman goes on and on, the conversation ends with the words "and eliminate the B.O.W". Needless to say, this is a tough operation, but Barry can handle it, because he is now one of the big kids since his debout in the original Resident Evil. The Game is what we call hard, mainly because of its combat system, A cursor moves from left to right as you try to hit the enemy's range of fire in the middle to get a head shot. The combat is a great idea, the earlier installments of the Resident Evil series urges you to conserve ammo and health, but you really find no need, because the earlier games are practically to easy, but Gaiden's approach to zombie killing is much more affective in that the zombies actually do damage when you are hit. The combat also adds to this realism by conveying the sense of urgency to eliminate the zombie or escape because will soon realise that if you're in there for to long you wont be coming back! I really enjoy playing the game, and after I beat it I going to do it agian. In closing, the graphics are nice the sound is creepy, andthe combat is brutal. All in all, an excellent play. I recently bought the game Resident Evil Gaiden which has now allowed me to complete my resident evil games collection. This game is great fun you start off in the game as Barry Burton (from Resident Evil 1) on a mission to investigate a submarine. You find out that Leon S Kennedy (Resident Evil 2) went to investigate but has gone missing. The gameplay for this game in my oppinion is pretty good.When you move around you are in 3rd person view allowing you to see your character, but when you bump into a zombie it engages you into a battle and changes to 1st person view in which a bar moves left and right across the screen and you try to get the cursor in the middle of the icon to do maximum damage. The game is a lot like past Resident Evil games as you have to do a lot of searching around to find keys and other locations.I have only just gotten the game today and have really just started but i can tell this game is going to be something special. the graphics are not too bad and the music is pretty strange.the zombie groans can be a little annoying as the disrupt the music every now and then but you get used to that. I have been told that the word gaiden means side story so its not a main part of the Resident Evil franchise but still a great and extremely rare game to find for your collection. To all of you who are big Resident Evil fans i think you should really give this a go, but i also think that this game will appeal to non Resident Evil fans as well.
