Cartridge works fine, but game is difficult to understand how to play. I'm not sure what kind of game this is but for me it's a turn off because I don't really know the objective and how to conquer the stages. I would not recommend this game because unless you understand the objective, it can be boring to play. I'm giving this a 3 star because I'm not sure how to play it. However, for someone that does understand the objective and how to play this game, for them it can be interesting. But for me, I don't see a point of the excitement in this particular game. Put it this way, I'm anxious to get rid of it for whatever trade value I can get.

I recently got back into classic game boy color titles. I had a 10-hour flight to argentina, and needed some entertainment. I was totally psyched when I discovered that Shadowgate, one of my favorite games for the original NES, had been released for game boy color at some point. Granted, I beat the game in about 25 minutes because I remembered all the nuances. But that's half the fun! Highly recommended for fans of adventure games, RPGs, classics like Maniac Mansion... Great game, great port and great auction win!
Let me give you the pros before the cons. Amazingly fun gameplay Excellent replay value Classic game Nice soundtrack Great value Cons Frustrating at times Game Boy Color palette leaves a little to be desired "Cheap" deaths Graphics are outdated If you love a brain teaser that will keep you thinking, look no further than the old school SHADOWGATE!
It's a fun game if you played the NES version and are just learning that it's on gameboy color. The cool thing is they actually re-did the graphics, some what which makes it a little different which is an added bonus.
