It is the year 2010; desecration and madness have spread across the cities like a plague. You are the fastest and toughest car commando alive, and your task is to choose from more than a dozen hi-tech, battle-hardened street machines like taxi cabs, police cars, motorcycles, and ice cream trucks and compete in contests of brute force and MAD MAX-style survival. Try to find the time to enjoy the stunning, fully interactive 3D scenery as you careen from building to building and street to street in an attempt to evade your evil pursuers and emerge victorious. In Single-Player mode or Head-to-Head PlayStation-networked battle, you'll race through five different worlds, shooting and maneuvering against devilish foes and bizarre criminals. Wage deadly war with awesome weapons like machine guns, flamethrowers, and missile launchers, and switch between four camera views including dashboard POV and third-person perspective. In the psychotic, hard-driving insanity of TWISTED METAL, you'll need nerves of steel to survive the sick but fun demolition derby from Hell.
It appeared to me at first that the controls were very hard to control and almost gave the game up since the story was inconsistent with the gameplay. As I kept playing it and read the manuals and got used to the controls, it became more and more addictive as I played it. There are several weaponry to activate by pressing R2 and a special alt weapon by pressing the triangle button to get an easily kill to your enemies. The game has patience though, if you still don't get the controls, there's a training section where you can practice all of the controls and testing out the variety of weaponry, like napalm, machine gun or fire missiles. The training section is there until you are comfortable to proceed and play the story mode or multiplayer. I have to say that this game is highly addictive and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys blasting cars and being on an adrenaline rush by drifting and racing while having explosives in your background. You will also need an online pass to access the multiplayer, a heads up.Read full review

Hate it. Only being able to play as sweet tooth?? Lame.. and I can't even get past the first race so I can't unlock anything, and I'd never be able to get past the other two races later in the game. Why would the creators put an actual race in a Damn twisted metal game?? That's not at all the point of twisted metal. The first few levels are somewhat challenging, but I can keep trying and eventually beat them. But I'm stuck on the first race and it's not even close, I'll never be able to beat it. Which sucks because I would have loved to unlock new characters and the graphics and movies are cool. Seriously, what were you thinking putting actual races in this game?? It's a big fat ZERO
My boy has this game on lock down thanks to me

Very good game it keeps it classic with twisted metal original features plus a few new ones. The graphics are really good with intense effects. I like how you can choose from characters to cars and weapons. and how it offers a 2 player split-screen witch a lot of game dev seem to forget how important that is for racing/action games for consoles now days. Hoping for a sequel and for it to be just as good or better as this one.
