This review is mainly based on the game itself, not based on the franchise, which is what most reviews seem to be based off of. The rating I gave it is simply what /I/ think of the game. It's a good game, and I don't think it deserves the bad reputation it gets. Me being a long time Sonic fan, I was excited about this game when it was first advertised. I had absolutely NO intention of buying it. I mean, it's SO different from the whole Sonic franchise. Then I saw this one review talking about Starfox Adventures for the Gamecube, and how it went through about the same things, and thought, hey, I liked that game, maybe I should give this a chance. And I did, and you know what, I actually enjoy the game. I love exploring around(I love exploring in games), trying to find each secret that every level and hub world offers. The combat's nice (I'm one for combat games), the music's fitting to each level (So far at least), the gameplay isn't THAT bad, and the overall feel of the game is nice. The things I hate most though, is the camera. It just doesn't want to work. Usually I'll hafta turn the camera to be behind the character myself. It follows them to an extent. The character's commenting so much doesn't annoy me as much as I thought it would (I think it helps that I turned the subtitles off). Overall, if you like action-adventure games, give this a try. Don't really listen to the reviews. If you go into the game with an open mind like I did (Not like 'Oh this game is going to be horrible',etc.), you might just surprise yourself and enjoy it.Read full review

The game is cute, sarcastic and doesn't take itself to seriously. The voice acting is great, the HD visuals are beautiful. The game-play is a mixed bag from open world, to platforming, beat em up, to the rail-line mainline iPhone games. Which mixes the game-play up so you dont get bored. If you let the game update you won't have the frame-rate issues or glitches. People are to hard on this sonic franchise, its trying to reboot itself as I could tell. They took all the things from sonic heroes, colors, generations, in a way. Gave you an intro the tv show thats why the ending is what it is. So im just confused how this game got so much hate. Pick it up its fun, kid friendly, adult satire, whatever but its fun for any sonic fan. It reminds me more of a sonic heroes reboot more than anything. But sonic boom is its own gem. Read full review

Here's my review: Pros: Good story, challenging enemies to fight, and plenty of collectibles to look for. Plus, there are fun challenges that offer different ways to interact with the game during the story. Cons: the graphics aren't perfect; there are several times the audio and gameplay glitches. The amount of rings you can collect should be improved (Limit=500), and there should be better ways to fast travel. Conclusion: while this isn't a perfect Sonic game, it is a fun game for all ages to play. I liked it for the story and action and exploration.

This is one of the worst video games since Superman 64 and much worse then Sonic 06. The story is terrible, the characters are annoying, the graphics are limited for it's time, and the controls are poorly made. If you want a real Sonic game play Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles or Sonic Generations. Avoid this game at all cost. EDIT: Did someone make fake accounts just to give my review thumps down multiple times? Lol that won't save the game. Seriously, go to Youtube and read the comments about this game if you don't believe me :)

Thanks for the gently used game. It is a gift for my son who is in the Marines. He wanted to play it while on 10 day leave. So it will be ready for him when he arrives home. Thanks for the deal.
