"F-Zero X" is likely one of the best racing games for N64 short of Mario Kart, not to mention the best entry in the F-Zero franchise. What the Gamecube version of F-Zero made up for in graphics, it lost in pure playability. "F-Zero X" was way ahead of its time, featuring a plethora of tracks and even more racers — first-time players are likely to be astounded to find that such a large game was available on a system now three generations old. Complete with a battle mode that makes for great multi-player races, "F-Zero X" is a must-have game for N64 collectors.
F-Zero X is a major improvement over its SNES predecessor and is definitly better than the gamecube version. Overall it comes down to gameplay, and thats where F-Zero X really shines. F-Zero X is a fairly easy to learn, fast-paced racing game with many memorable tracks and plenty of cars to choose from. Its main mode is obvious the grand prix, which pits you against 29 opponents, which is alot compared to the standard 7 opponents found in other N64 racing games like Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing. Aside from the regular raceing mode there is the 'Death Race' in which you win by destroying your opponents or throwing them off the track, which is plenty entertaining but once mastered can be a bit boring. Additionally there is the multilayer mode, in which 4 players can race it out on the same tracks from the Grand Prix. One overlooked feature of the game is the X-Cup mode, which generates a new track every time played. The tracks in it can range from really boring and simple pipes to the most challenging, twisted tracks the game has to offer.Read full review
F-Zero X is an absolute must have for any Nintendo 64 owner or retro games collector. This futuristic spacecraft racer pushes the Nintendo 64 hardware to it's limits pushing out a super smooth 60fps. There are literally dozens of spacecraft to chose from all with varying strengths and weaknesses, this adds a very tactical edge to the game. The game is played over five cups each containing six unique tracks to complete in varying difficulties. The game provides hours of fun in single player mode; however when played against 1, 2 or 3 other people the game becomes absolutely brilliant. The incredibly fast paced racing and smooth intuitive physics provide one of the best racing experiences available, even by today's standards. Compared to other racing games available for the Nintendo 64 F-Zero X has some of the fastest game-play and best physics going. Coupled with perhaps one of the best video-game soundtracks in history, this is one of those titles that never dates, and that you keep returning to time and time again.Read full review
Ah, the classic Nintendo 64 title, F-Zero X. I remember the days of fast speed racing and ultimate destruction with this one. Basically, you choose a fast machine, choose the color, max speed and acceleration; and BOOM you're suddenly in the race of your life. It saddens me that the F-Zero X expansion pack has been released on the Nintendo 64 DD because that was discontinued and very rare to collect. I still plan on one day getting it myself and re-living my childhood all over again.
I think anyone can agree that F-Zero X is one of the best racing game for the N64 and my personal favorite racer as well. This game consists of five different game modes which are: Grand Prix, Practice, Time Trial, Death Race and Vs. Battle. There are four different difficulties which are: Novice, Standard, Expert, and Master. There are 30 racers in total. You need to unlock them by winning the Grand Prix on every difficulties and it will also unlock new cups as well. There are five different cups that contain six tracks on each cup. They go by Jack, Queen, King, Joker, and X Cup. The music consist of heavy metal for the tracks that are very enjoyable while racing and it really gives you the extra adrenalin while going supersonic speed. This is the only racing game that it holds up to 30 racers at one for the N64. The game runs so smoothly and the best thing about it is playing split screen with your friends for timeless fun. This game was an incredible improvement from the SNES version. So go get yourself a copy and see what you've been missing.Read full review
