If youre a fan of the Bust-A-Move series then you're going to love this one too. With a fun, new style of gameplay where you use the touch screen to direct your shots, the game is changed enough to make it fun and appealing all over again. With good graphics and entertaining music, this game will be extremely enjoyable even to people who have never played the series before. With online play and battles against a competent AI, this game has lots of lasting appeal. My only complaint is that the levels are either hit or miss. They are either really easy to beat in 5 shots, or were made by a sadist and take a long time to beat. Some of the levels are more annoying than fun. However, I love the endless mode and play it all the time, so even if you dont have friends in the area, you can still have lots of fun playing solo.Read full review
I was really surprised at how different the DS version of Bust-a-move was from the earlier editions, probably because the latest one I have was like Bust-a-move 99 (for N64)...HA!!! But I like the different way it's played. You use the stylus to move the launcher which is like a big rubber band, instead of aiming with the buttons. It takes a whie to get used to it, though. I think the only thing that's really the same is the concept of popping the bubbles, not much else.
Hotel Dusk is an adventure puzzle game made by Cing and Nintendo, the same companies that brought you the classic Trace Memory. It follows the story of Kyle Hyde, a salesman (a retired officer) staying at Hotel Dusk, and eventually un-covering the Hotels' secret, covering secret back-stories of the characters, and looking for his long lost friend, Bradley. The game uses touch screen controls, but one wrong move, and it's Game Over. The game is a great Nintendo game, and I gave it a 5/5 on the rating scale.
I bought this game to play in the car to help me pass the time. it is not a game that is suitable for that. because of the stylus use it is impossible to have the precision aim that you need for this game while in a moving vehicle. The graphics in this game are great and it is very entertaining, i enjoyed playing it, however i give this game an average rating because you can not start a new game or challenge your previous score. and it is over much too quickly, it was less than an hour and i was seeing the credits. with those two points against it this game is better suited for very young children that are not experienced gamers. for me it was nothing like the popular bubble pop games that i enjoy so much. I was very disappointed in this game.
I can't give this game any higher rating than average because the split screen on Nintendo DS is so hard to get used to. I'm used to arcade Bust-a-Move or Puzzle Bobble where the whole gameboard is on one screen. On the DS you shoot from the bottom screen while the bubbles are on the top screen. It makes it more difficult to line up your shots and it can put a strain on your eye having to look back and forth between the two screens. One cool thing about this game is the two modes, one of which uses the stylus to launch bubbles. Overall it's a fun game but I'm still not able to get over the split screen, as you can probably tell.
