This is a game that I stumbled across in 2002, and I had no idea what it was. It turns out that "awesome" doesn't cover it. Let's break it down. Graphics: 10/10 Probably (outside of FFIX) the best graphics on the PSX. The drawn anime-style cutscenes immerse you into the story, which is very convoluted (see below). The areas themselves are just grand, and rendered in real-time, as there are no breaks in the movements. It is fluid, and hardly any loading times in-game. Gameplay- 9/10 Great gameplay, but if you use a controller, you will have trouble discovering everything in this game. It is IMMENSE. They packed a ton into this game. There are 3 "guns" that you can use, with each having an "element". The 'fire' gun spreads like a shotgun. The 'lightning' or 'bolt' gun seeks out enemies and projectiles. The 'water' gun is like the 'fire' gun, but it doesn't spread out like the fire gun does. All-in-all, a great system. It also allows you to level up at the end of the areas. You also get a rating at the end of the game after you beat the last boss. Sound- 10/10 Working Designs has one of the best music departments. If you have ever played anything by WD, you know the quality of music they put out in their games. The sound effects are also dynamite, some of the best on the PSX. Overall- 10/10 This is one of the best games you will ever try. If you haven't played it, you might try picking up a copy. And you WILL want the GunCon from Namco (either packaged with Time Crisis, or on ebay) because it makes the game much better.Read full review
This is an old play station one game but alot of fun to play and it is great for playing with friends. I had this game when it was released back in the late 90's and was so glad to find a copy up for auction. This was one of my favorites and I am having so much fun playing it again. The graphics are of course a bit primitive but the overall look of the game is actually really great. There is a story line to this shooter and my wife doesn't complain when she watches it so that's pretty impressive.I would recommend this game to anyone who is looking for a different kind of shooter then what is currently at the stores.Lots of fun!!
This game is great. It is a fun, entertaining, and challenging game. The enthusiasm to play this game is insane when you start to play it. It's definitely hard though, no question there. Plus I would HIGHLY recommend a Guncon or something like that. Excellent animated FMVs to watch, and the story is really cool. This game could easily be made into an RPG if you want my opinion. Switch between multiple weapons at will. Each has its own uses, though I find myself sticking to the fire weapon most of the time. Beautiful graphics (by PS1 standards, anyway) and a dramatic classical soundtrack. The dub of the anime-style cut scenes is awful, but that's the only serious flaw in an otherwise fantastic gaming experience.
a rare classic, this game has the things needed to be a good rail based shooter, yet it has so much more. for those of you who appreciate art, this is one of the most artistic shooters around. i don't play that many shooters, in fact i own very few, but i have this one because i love the art so. this is a rare game to have in your collection. for those of you who know the joy of owning it, i congratulate you. for those of you who don't be sure to grab the next available one.
Works perfect! Forgot it was a shooting game. Still worth the purchase
