Espn Mlb 2k5 is a fun game. It has new features like GM mode and will keep you entertained and wanting more. I have completed an entire GM mode season and have had a lot of experience with this game. Here is how I rate it. Game Play-8 The game play is great. You can make great diving catches you can plow over the catcher, all the things you want in a baseball game. The hitting is easy and fun and will keep you playing for hours on end. You can choose what type of slide you want to do into the base and you can even take out the second baseman on a routine double play. There are a few things wrong with this game though *The game freezes sometimes and will really tick you off. They have got to improve this or else many gamers won't want to play this because everyone who plays sports games, heck any game, knows that if you have a great game and go to play another one you don’t want it to freeze and have all your data lost it sucks! *Another thing is with the sound, which you will read below... In game sound-7.5...Menu Sound-2 The in game sound in acceptable. The announcers are good and they keep you updated just like a regular baseball game. BUT and this is a big but. The menu sound is HORRIBLE. It makes me want to scream! It plays the same song over and over and it’s like a glitch! It will just start over in the middle of the song. It's like a bad dream! If you get this game I suggest you put it on mute or you'll go crazy. Controls-9 The controls are basic. You will have to read the manual to know what types of slides but I'll tell you the basic ones. Push the right analog stick up for a basic headfirst slide. Push the right analog stick down for a basic feet first slide. You can also push the right analog stick to either the left or right side to choose which side of the bag you want to slide into. Down left will make you slide into the bag feet first to the left side of the bag, and up left will make you slide head first into the left side of the bag. It's very simple and you should have some common sense on how to play if you've ever played any baseball game. It even tells you what button to push when pitching to pitch so it's all about you picking up the controller and playing. The pitching though is simple. There is a pitching meter and you hold the button you want to the end of the meter let go and then press the button again in the highlighted zone. You can always change the meter to a different one if that doesn't suit you. Graphics-8 The graphics are good. They look realistic but come on I hate it when older people who look at the game while you’re playing say "it looks just like a real baseball game!" Well duh! That’s the concept that the makers of the game are going for. And this game does look similar to a real baseball game. It really helps to have good graphics while playing or it takes the fun right out of it. If you haven’t played this game then you'll be satisfied with the graphics when you play. So overall this is a good game. Like said I give it an 8/10. It's sound has got to improve and it's got to stop freezing. I have not gotten the chance to play MLB 2K6 but if you have a chance then play it. If you love 2K6 and have the money then buy it. Though if you don’t quite have enough money then I suggest you take a ride over to your local game stop, eb games, Sam goody, etc. Even ebay if you go on there. That’s where I pick up a lot of cheap games at great prices. But my point is take a chance on 2K6 iRead full review
The title of this review is pretty much all you need to know, I guess it may be bias that I watch ESPN 24/7 and am a sports nut when it comes to both playing and the knowledge of sports stats. This game is brilliant, realistic in every aspect. There is one small issue I have with it though, sometimes when fielding like in Fenway for example the computer gives no chance to position the player to catch it either against the wall or off the wall so it's almost always an error and the ball drops to the warning track. Aside from that I love the game... BUY IT, don't waste money on EA Sports re-hashed games... they never do update them, just the players and the teams they play for not the actual game itself a real waste of money that goes for ALL EA Sports games not just baseball. So, BUY THIS ONE.Read full review
OK let me just say right up front, i have not played a video game since the 80s and those were arcade games, i have never played a home video game until now, i purchased a used PS2 unit here on ebay and picked up this 2k5 game cheap without the case or the book, i was afraid that i would not be able to figure it out with no book. I was wrong, if you know baseball and figure out that the instructions are actually on the disc there is no real need for the book, this game amazed me with it's graphics and ease of use for a novice like me, and it was very fun to boot. i would recommend this one to any baseball fan.
This game is the one of the best baseball games yet. there are many different modes if witch you can manage your own team, draft players , trade players, and bring your team all the way to the world series. The game is the most life like baseball game that I have ever played. Before the game you can set all the weather condishions. For example you can make it windy or rainny and many others. I hpoed this helped you.
Great baseball game with ESPN
