Genma Onimusha was released in the successful response of the original Onimusha Warlords on the playstation 2. The game was however modified before its released to the system. (Excerpt from the Onimusha Wiki site) "The Xbox version of the game contained many changes from the original release. Besides the requisite minor graphical upgrade, there were various changes to increase the difficulty. Monsters are stronger and there are generally more of them throughout the game, but the most significant addition is green soul energy. Some foes release this when they die and the player must capture it before other monsters do. The player can gain temporary invulnerability, but the monsters become faster and stronger. Additionally, there is a new area, several new costumes, enemies limbs can be cut off by the player on certain conditions, some new cut scenes and a new super attack." If you are a fan of the earlier resident evil games then the controls and overall premise is very familiar to you. Very original back in its day the controls today are quite dated. The graphics have actually aged well and there is definitely smooth animations (more so when played on an xbox 360 due to its backwards compatibility). Story is interesting enough, but is much more enjoyable if you have knowledge of feudal japan era history. Due to its use of important people during that timeframe. With the ability to power yourself up and a large environment to explore Genma Onimusha is a definite must have for any xbox or even 360 owner as it's now cheap and still a blast to play today.Read full review
