About this product
Product Information
Set in a gothic monastery converted into a prison, Koudelka is a role-playing game where players battle against undead humans, bugs, soldiers, and even parts of the prison itself. The game combines parts of Resident Evil with role-playing and combat strategies of Final Fantasy to give gamers a unique experience. Raise stats and collect new weapons and armor along the way to fight more advanced enemies. Equip characters with magic to vanquish enemies and acquire healing powers to make sure your party remains intact and complete the mission Travel through the monastery to find items required to progress further through the game.
Koudelka is by far the most underrated RPG on the PS One! This game doesn't get the recognition it deserves and still manages to stand out as one of the best RPGs the system has to offer. It combines the role-playing element with a survival horror element and makes for a fantastic game when all is said and done! The story is compelling and the characters are memorable. It has plenty of exploration and a lot of fun battle tactics. It has everything a great RPG needs and then some! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a classic role-playing game to try out!
Koudelka is a great game, basically think resident evil meets final fantasy. ( Only not as lame sounding )Takes place in the early 1900s. Lots of mythologically driven monsters and tons of diffferent items/equipment all with their own elements..
Levelling up by killing monsters and your proficiency in weapons is based on usage.
Really fun i like it a lot, guns swords and whatnot.
Turn based gameplay and tons of hidden stuff.
Cheesy voice acting (that skips/cuts out, when you only have a few scratches on the disc), but so far a better story than Shadow Hearts: From the New World.
I decided to buy this item specifically because it was the beginning of another video game series known as Shadow Hearts. I wanted to try my luck at the game again to see why I didn't do so well the first time I played the game. Besides that, I wanted to know the story and how Shadow Hearts all began, and since beating even within only a couple of days, I still had my fun with it (but I do not plan on selling it).
Alright, so the graphics aren't exactly spectacular, but remember....this was made for the ps1 and so the graphics are going to seem prehistoric however I love them anyway.
The story in this game is just wonderful and captivating. I love the characters, nice to see a female as a main for once instead of just a secondary. And this preludes the Shadow Hearts series (which is my favorite series of all time) You will not really miss much if you play Shadow Hearts without playing Koudelka, but it definately helps to explain the backstory and the mysterious voice Yuri hears.
I really do love everything about this game, sure the battle system can be a tad bit boring, but I miss those old battle systems, the new ones don't seem as fun to me as these did, but everyone has their own opinions. I am rather happy I found this game and can't wait to pick it up again. :)Read full review
