I have very fond memories of this game it was hard but very fun the graphics are great the bosses at the end of the level are huge and well detailed I can tell a lot of work went into this game. There's so much action and I like the story line , and cut scenes on the game. This should be bought and played by all nes fans if you haven't played it your missing out on a wonderful masterpiece! The first stage at the end of the level I think you fight this mutant man that's riding this hideous monster I can't remember what all the bosses looked like , but anyway. You swing a sword on the game and you can collect other items and this magic you have where you can shoot projectiles in all directions which is very effective. I just bought this game again with the box and manual everything looked brand new. I could tell that the seller took very good care of the game. This game brings back so many good memories. This is a definite classic I wished there would of been a sequel but oh well this game has so much replay value that I never get bored!Read full review

I played this game growing up, I was first introduced to Astyanax at my daycare. Yes, I started my gaming life early. After playing this game with someone 4 years older and constantly embarrassed with the level of difficulty, I decided to beg my parents to buy me this game. To my speck of luck here and there, I found out this game was part of my fathers collection. I had to borrow it to play, I never seen soo many sprites on the screen at once. The gameplay can get a little convoluted when you are swinging your axe away at foes, the more enemies you kill the more memory is released for progression. This can me a minor irritation but not as bad as having invisible lines going through your head if enemies get too close found in other games. Frankly Astyanax for Nintendo is ahead of its time. The developers did a fine job with detail on the enemies and background which may have set the stage influencing later games of this genre. To this day I have not beaten the game, I'll admit it was a bit too much for me. Hey give it a shot you don't know if you can until you try. Before you pull your eyes out, take a breather and come back to it. Check out "Astyanax" for Nintendo and other classic titles all in excellent condition at my Ebay store.Read full review
