I don't fancy myself a fighting game fanatic but I sure enjoy playing a good fighter for hours with my friends. My dreamcast was getting a little dusty in my closet, not using it since playing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 (another amazing fighter). I always wanted to get into fatal fury and since this game was so famous I thought it could offer the best of that franchise. It sure doesn't have as many characters as a game like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, but it doesn't need them; each character aside from maybe two are diverse in form and play differently. The controls are tight on the dreamcast, but my old controllers d-pads are a bit squishy since i first bought them and sometimes this interferes with the timing of important moves. The characters themselves are colorful and likable, each really have something to offer for any skill level. Most might defer to the multitude of other fighters for the dreamcast such as Marvel vs. Capcom/2, Snk vs. capcom 2, street figher alpha 3, power stone, street fighter 3 third strike, tech romancer, the list goes on. Mark of the Wolves is special, however, in that it lacks the flashiness of marvel vs. capcom 2 and keeps the tightness of something like street figher alpha 3 or the last blade. Each move feels solid and carries weight on impact. I would call it second only to the last blade for snk fighters, but if you want a relatively simple fighter to pick up but one that requires so much practice to get down, then this is your best bet for a game without samurai. p.s. besides mortal kombat, why doesn't the US make any half decent fighters?Read full review
As a child, I grew up in the inner city and never had a chance (or money) to play a neo geo (as most people didn't being that it cost like $800 THEN). This game however, allows you to experience those great characters and stories almost seeing the fighting wordl from a different eye. the game is fun and plays the same as any street fighter game, a good roster (not great) ,but definitely fun. Definitely enjoy this purchase as well as a very rare title. If you can get your hands on it, i recommend you do so.
brilliant fighting game. great character design, smooth gameplay well suited for matches, so good. while i did not see it as a flaw at all, some people may not like how many of the characters are similar in play style/somewhat basic, compared to many king of fighters characters (though over complexation is sometimes a flaw with a few KOF characters). its really mindboggling how SNK pulled off this games animation on the ancient neo-geo.
This maybe be one of the 3 best fighting games on the dreamcast. It has fantastic graphics and sound. The backgrounds are very beutifully done. There are many fighters to choose from some from the old series to new fresh ones. There are some load times but its not that bad.Its very cheap also in comparison to its original Neo Geo format.Pick this one up.
One of the top fighting games on Dreamcast
