This is a very interesting game for the sega genesis. Not only a great game for Disney fans, but for video game/sega fans alike. The level design is extraordinary considering that this game was released in 1994. Levels include features like partial 3D play, interactive backgrounds, among other unique features. The game is challenging even for very good video gamers, and the game has 3 different difficulty settings. Overall, this is an excellent game the first time playing or the 100th time playing 16 years after its release date.
In the mid/late part of the 16 bit era, some developers realized that the technology they were working with was sufficient that they could start looking to animating their sprites with an eye to the principles of animation that film and television had long enjoyed. They started animating characters not (just) as game developers, but as animators, employing the time honored techniques developed by Disney and famously outlined by Ollie Johnson and Frank Thomas in The Illusion Of Life. It's therefore fitting that Disney games were the first to push these principles into video games. Aladdin for the Genesis did it, Earthworm Jim, did it, and in this game where the iconic mouse romps through his history of short films, we see these principles pushed to beautiful effect. Mickey walks with his famous double bounce. He squashes and stretches as he jumps. Everything is there, and it's a joy to behold. Modern games don't do it better than this. If you are a fan of Disney, buy this. If you are an animation fan, buy this. If you are interested in the history of video games, buy this. If you want to see selective use of polygons on a Genesis (!!!) buy this. If you want a challenging but joyful adventure, buy this. The Illusion games are perhaps better known, but this game is a little masterpiece and a must have for your collection. Unless, like.... you hate fun and whimsy.Read full review
This game is a difficult platformer with a lot of energy and smooth animation. It's "World Of Illusion" backwards. Whereas WOI was cute, slow-paced, and had a genuine feeling of innocence, MM is tricky, difficult, and has something sinister about it that I can't put my finger on. But this is clearly one of the later Sega games, and it shows, with 3D backgrounds, strong motion, and neat effects. There are only 3 continues. Even though there's an "Easy" setting, it gets pretty tricky about 1 stage and a half in the game, and there are seven stages with several individual levels making them up. There are some cheap hits and inconsistent collision detection, and this makes certain stages like "LoneSome Ghosts" frustrating. The sound is fairly solid and the music is pretty good for the hardware, but nothing to write home about. The reason I said I wouldn't recommend this product isn't because the game isn't good, but its challenge level makes it only for the more determined retrogamers out there. I am personally happy with the purchase I made, but can understand why some people wouldn't take to it.Read full review
What can I say but Mickey in his prime with real animators from Disney and don’t forget David Jaffe! From the 1930’s to the 1990’s this game is the Mickey Mouse pinnacle!

I'm not a Disney fan like that, but out of the games I played of there properties this one is my favorite Aladdin being second for the Sega Genesis. Good graphics, fun gameplay and beautiful art work.
