The game makes up for in play what it lacks in graphics. Sort of bucks the trend of the realistic looking sports games on other systems like xbox or PS3. Unlike MLB 2k08 in which you smack homeruns in every at bat with no name players, power pros is more realistic rewarding only good aim and timing. The interface works well with the remote and gives you the option of using the remote to swing the bat and pitch by actively swinging. If you want increased difficulty (ie aiming and timing for hitting and pitching) you can use the alternate controls (nunchuk for direction and the remote more like a traditional game pad). The game has all the players you know and love and the announcer is not excessively annoying. Another cool feature is one that mixes an RPG style player development part of the game where you create and train a player as he comes up through the ranks from college (or high school I can't recall) on. Then you can actually use the player to play games. I think I would give this game a 8.5 out of 10 just because it is lacking in the graphics department. As for the playability and the many different game play options, it ranks up there with any other sports game for the wii or baseball games on other systems. You can also read many other reviews on this game at metacritic.com. I have no ties to them but have found it to be a great site to find out what real gamers think about games before I buy or rent.Read full review
I love Baseball, and i was looking for a game to kill time till the season startsand help cure the college football and NFL blues, not that i dont like football i just couldnt get into it this year, Im sure because my beloved chiefs never got it together. Any way i saw a review for this game in a magazine and decided to giv it a try. When i got the game i decided to be my home town Royals ,, well let me not bore you with all my ok the royals arnt good but i love going to the games talk. this game is cartoonish, not a hard core baseball sim but really fun to play. Think nes baseball stars. The pitching fielding and batting are all simple, and you know what its a great way to have fun with the kids and they can compete with you. anyway my self i would on a 1-10 scale give this an 8 for the fun it has gave on many a sunday afternoon. Buy this for a great fun afternnon of on serious baseball. stay away from it if your lookig for a truly hard core sim,, though the carrer mode isnt bad. its kinda wierd, ads this game was ported over from japan.Read full review
The depth of rosters, stadiums, and game types is impressive but some things are missing that I would enjoy. The first is a franchise mode. There is a success mode in which you control a single player but it has hours of unneccesary and boring text and dialogue with little if any actual baseball, and a season mode but you can't play multiple seasons and develop your players which is what I look for in a sports game. The controls are nice except I wish they would have taken advantage of the Wii controls to use an actual swing rather than button smashing to hit the ball. Its just sitting there begging baseball games to use the swing potential. Also I found that it is difficult to tweak the difficulty so that you arn't beating the computer by 30 but not frustrated trying to run down ground balls that are through the infield before you realize it got hit. So overall great depth... maybe too much, but a fun game with great potential, and hours of play time if you are into baseball.Read full review
This game is fun, although like most games it has its flaws. I was a lil over whelmed at all the menu options when the game started, a bit confusing. The "success" mode is a lil fun but VERY drawn out and difficult to make to the minor leagues. I keep getting GAME OVER, and still haven't gotten to the minor leagues yet lol. Finally I HIGHLY recommend that when you play against a friend or computer set your defense to AUTO. Playing manual defense with the nunchuck and controller together can be VERY difficult against the computer. Other then that it is a fun, and addictive game!! I love the graphics and color. Stadiums are identical to the real thing!
this game is flawed, yes, but in playing it one understands why the game is some amazing. the batting and fielding are amazingly fun although the way the controls shift from player to player on the field is very odd and can even be frustrating at times, everything about this game is wonderful. it is as deep as you want to take it; me and my friends have created a complete team of our own characters and are playing through a regualr season using our very own team. the success mode if addicting, making the best player you can is flat out fun! it is not very hard and easy to pick up if you have the money and you like baseball, this is a must have for any wii owner! enjoy!!
