Shining Wisdom is a fantastic game made by Sega and Camelot (formerly Sonic Software Planning) but doesn't get the same attention as other games in the Shining series. The gameplay is more Action oriented similar to The Legend Of Zelda or Secret Of Mana. This is quite different from the RPG and Strategy play of the other games. However, this can be a nice change of pace. You still get the trademark Camelot music, graphics, and icon-based interface, along with a good story. The gameplay is a lot faster than the dungeon crawling of Shining In The Darkness or the lenghty strategic battles Of Shining Force. The game isn't without it's quirks though. Your character moves very slow, and the running function takes some getting used to. Running involves tapping the button repeatedly to gain momentum, then holding it down to maintain the desired speed (out of 4 speeds). The options screen allows for "manual and automatic transmaiison" but either setting takes some time to get used to. Although there's a small gameplay issue and the action based gameplay may not be for some hardcore SHining players, its still a great game and worthy purchase to add to your gaming collection. Now that Working Designs, the publisher of Shining Wisdom in the US, is no more, along with Sega & Camelot's falling out, we will likely NEVER see this game released in the US again.Read full review
Shining Wisdom is a puzzle adventure game that pretends to be an action RPG. Its graphics haven't aged well but it's still fun to play. There are two different jump boots, both of which allow you to go to some places ahead of the plot. New players seeing it will have light chuckles of irony. I see some complaints that the game is slow. You're able to wave dash pretty quickly when you use the weapon that lets you kick enemies. You can kick from one end of the screen to the other in less than 2 seconds. There is also a judo suit which counts as both armor and a weapon, but allows you to defeat all except the strongest baddies with a quick slam. Short completion time (in fact speed-running is encouraged), moderate difficulty and goofy sidequests give it good replay value. Overall this game makes for a light-hearted, felicitous way to spend a slow weekend. Read full review

Wow This is a great! rare game. Some people claim its the least good in the shining series but i half to strongly disagree. I just got done playing it and it was every bit as good as shining the holy ark and any of the other ones. The story is great the gameplay is fun Its quite differnt from the normal shining game and i think it makes it unique in many ways I think most people can't accept change but it was made by working designs and they put alot of time and effort into this game. I recommend anyone to pick this up! noot only is it great but yo may also never see this title agine cause its rare no downloads only on saturn and veryyyyy hard to find. I give this game 4.5 stars out of 5 5/5 story 5/5 Art Work design (tons of detal all over the game down to the amazeing heavy color booklet they did not go cheap on this title someone loved it 4/5 graphics (pretty 2d rendering) Gaameplay 4/5Read full review
I am a HUGE collector of all shining series and, apart from shining force neo, this is the worst game of all. Playing becomes very tiresome and the stuff with the boots is very annoying. Ok to collect, but I would't definitely recommend it for playing. Go get Shining the Holy Ark now!!!! :) Best regards, Faliorn
