In the early to mid 90's, Capcom was in a seemingly perpetual cycle of rehashing Street Fighter II in countless different ways, unable to bring forward a new chapter in the series after bringing new characters and gameplay refinements. When people thought they'd get SFIII, they got another version of II. Then Alpha came out. Testing the waters with new characters, dropping some favorites but keeping it small. It was a smash hit and shortly after Alpha II was announced. This brought refinements and a delightfully expanded roster and remains a fantastic title to this day. You cannot go wrong with Alpha II. Alpha II' (Gold in the West) was a further refinement of II but was released as part of the Street Fighter Collection (with SFII) and thus, less copies are available and they fetch a much higher price. That difference in price isn't worth it, you'll have more than enough awesomeness with Alpha II.Read full review

Continuing the series that Capcom released to explain the events in between Street Fighter and Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter Alpha 2 is gameplay wise an upgrade to its predecessor. All the players from the first Alpha return (Ryu, Ken, Chun Li, Charlie, Sagat, Guy, Birdie, Adon, Rose and Sodom) as well as all three unlockable characters (Akuma, M. Bison and Dan) are now playable from the start. Five characters making their Alpha debut are Sakura (completely new character), Rolento (originally a boss in Final Fight), Gen (an enemy from Street Fighter 1) as well as Street Fighter II alums Zangief and Dhalsim. The gameplay is very similar to Street Fighter Alpha, however this game introduces a new "custom combo" system that is executed correctly can really devestate the opponent. Once again each character runs their own story lines and have their own unique bosses relative to their story. If you play well enough you may fight a mid boss (also supposed to relate to the story) and even worse you may face Shin Akuma (basically translating to "true demon" Shin Akuma is faster, stronger and has more powerful moves than Akuma). The only problem I have are the unlockable players, all can only be unlocked with a code and the code needs to be done every time you play or continue. The unlockable characters are Evil Ryu (Ryu with Akuma's powers), Shin Akuma, alternate Chun Li (just the same Chun Li in her SFII outfit) as well as Classic Zangief and Classic Dhalsim (Each look and play like their SFII Champion Edition characters, but also lack super moves and air guard). Overall Street Fighter Alpha 2 is a very good game and the Saturn version (just like the first) is the only arcade perfect port. So if you're a Street Fighter fan or a fan of Fighting games in general, this is definitely a great addition to your collection.Read full review
Capcom put an epic marketing campaign behind this release when it first came out. As a game it will satisfy all of your custom-comboing, Akuma-unlocking, Guy-air-juggling needs. The Saturn version has faster loading times than the PlayStation version. However, as with all of the Street Fighter Alpha games, the graphics haven't aged well.

What I love about this product is that not only its a Street Fighter game, but that its factory sealed and only 15 bucks! I'm a video game collector so any sealed game is well worth getting and this wasn't only a bargain it was a steal(Im no thief so don't take it serous)! If this seller has more sealed games for dirt cheap I would put his kids through college!!!
If you love fighting games, this is the one. Definitely get it.
