Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, is probably one of my least favorite in terms of the roster. The game only features a handful of orginal characters from the series, BUTTTTTTTTT this game is still the BEST street fighter to come around. The game play, the music, and even the new characters, everything is just simply PERFECT about this game. 3rd Strike is a revamped version of street fighter 3: Impact (basically the super version of street fighter 2 compared to street fighter 2 turbo). It contains 4 new charcters(including Chun-Li) bring the roster to a small 19. If you have a sega dreamcast and like fighters or street fighter, YOU NEED THIS GAME. Please remember though, for both this game and any other Fighter on the Dreamcast the controller is terrible for these games. You will NEED to purchase either a fghting stick, an ASCII FP, or a total control 3 adapter which allows you to use a sega saturn or ps2 controller on your dreamcast in order to maximize your ability on these games.Read full review
Graphics are drop-dead gorgeous with outstanding use of color and hand-painted-style backgrounds. The music may be exciting for those with ecclectic tastes. Although Ken and Ryu can’t win in three combos, you can nonetheless whip your opponent in a few seconds. Smaller characters provide rapid-fire action that can’t be matched in previous Street Fighter games. Larger characters reliably catch aggressive opponents off guard. There are some frustrating moments but surprisingly deep gameplay and counter maneuvers keeps ‘em coming back for more. However this is not a simple game to play. Like Tekken, the animation frames betray the player's intuition. The player is left frustrated at not having been don't fully informed to what's about to happen. You're going to get caught in annoying frustrating traps unless you devote yourself to a lot of memorizing. This is pretty much a game designed to eat quarters at the arcades. The home version was mostly good for its much-needed practice mode.Read full review

This is the best street fighter. It's better than 2 or 4 or 5 or alpha or all of them combined. Don't @me. It had the best competitive scene (look up evo moment 37 between Justin Wong & Daigo). Of the home versions of the game, most of them are broken and busted for various reasons. Don't bother with the PS2 version of SF3, a bunch of combo's don't work properly and the framerate can go off of 60. The dreamcast version is nearly perfect to the arcade version. Everything works properly except the outcomes of certain grabs involving Akuma. Absolutely worth the money for collectors or competitive 3rd strike players.

While it might be correct that this game is aimed at the hardcore gamer, any gamer will know for a fact that gameplay always beats graphics, which is, thankfully, why so many people still play terrible looking games (like CS or even Quake!) compared to other games, it's not important what the game looks like, it's how much fun you have out of it. If you enjoy looking at the graphics for playing a game, that's quite odd to be quite honest! Street Fighter 3 is a great game from an SF and Capcom view, which is why SF EX2 was so bad, no one wants SF in 3D and using the exact same engine as Tekken 3!
If you are the kind of guy that loves Street Fighter and you are really good at it. Then this is the game for you! I bought this because I simply wanted to see what the hype was all about with this game. I like the fact that they keep a few characters from the other street fighter games, like Ryu, Ken, Akuma, and Chun-Li. There are also new Editions such as the mysterious Q. The Dark Remy, Chinese Brothers Yun and Yang, and many more. What I dislike is that the computers will be able to instantly read your moves when it seems like they're guessing on what you're going to do. But I enjoy the solid soundtrack that's in this game a lot. It's cool that they have an Arcade Mode to do as well. Overall, I give this game a 9 out of 10
