I love Static-X they have a great metal techno sound to their music, I would not say that this is their best album but it is up there. Push It and Love Dump are a must hear on this album. I have had to buy this album 3 times, every time I buy this album it gets stolen. That alone should tell you how great this CD is. For one the amount of times I bought it and for two how many times it has been stolen from me. I also had the honer to see them live at Ozzfest 2007, the pyrotechnics and the proformance was enough to blow you away.
The album starts off with a burst of seemingly pent-up energy. These guys don't seem to like wasting time! "Push It" ignites imideately after you put the cd in and hit play. Pounding metal riffs dominate the cd, backed up with grinding bass, screaming synthisizers, and skillfully pounded drums. "I'm With Stupid" contains some rather funny sound bytes of some woman talking about... something. The speed and feel of the songs stay pretty much the same until "Stem." There, the tempo seems to go from 100 to 3 mph in half a second. After "Stem," "Sweat of the Bud" picks up the previously set tempo, and it continues until the final track, the imfamous "December." For some reason, not too many people seem to like this track. For those who expected the entire Static-X album to be crunching guitars and screaming vocals, try to set aside this notion before listening to this track. While this band is quite different (in that their music truely scares me, as oppose to other bands where there music simply riles me up), and shows it with Wayne Static's speedy fingers and Ken Jay's total control of his drum set, "December," the slowest song on the track, blows other songs like "Trance is the Motion" and "Fix" right out of the water. A truely frightening wall of sonic dispair backs the deep, thoughtful lyrics. Static takes a break from screaming and shouting and spends the entire song whispering his poem. A truely remarkable band, Static-X shows a lot of talent and potential. I certainly hope they show up again in the future.Read full review
Static x Wisconsin death trip is hardcore from start to finish. I bought this cd to put in my boombox during my morning weight training routine. I can let it play & every song is great and delivers the power and aggression i need to get through my lifts. I must have for any serious metal head!!!
The CD is great; definantly makes me feel good in a good way. Good. Great. Awesome. I recommend Static X and their earlier stuff (I have yet to indulge in their newest CD, but I'm sure it rocks). Anywho, filling space, but yes, give them a listen.
This is by far my favorite Static-X album! I love the hard sound with the growling voice. They seemed to soften their sound as they made more albums. I still really like the band but their first album will always be my favorite.
