Lacuna Coil unleashed themselves with their second full length album. Delivering hard metal riffs and melodic tunes that should satisfy a wide audience. The beautiful female vocals of Cristina Scabbia are, as always, Lacuna's icing on the cake; even though many think that the vocals of Andrea Ferro is something that the band could do without, personally I think that it beefs up tracks that could be quite easy listening otherwise. Unleashed Memories is a solid album. The album opens with the haunting 'Heir of a dying day', moves through to more commercial 'Distant Sun' and the stunning, and my personal favourite, 'Current Obsession. If you only take on thing from listening to Lacuna Coil it has to be the vocal talents of Cristina, her angelic and powerful vocals are only matched by her looks and her presence on stage which gives me goose pimples every time I see a live performance. Overall a stunning album; possibly not as accessible as Comalies but a great one for someone who has already discovered a love for the band.Read full review
