RIP The Rev!~ This band has grown very much from Sounding the 7th trumpet to Hail to the King... The left much of their screaming back on Waking the Fallen. This album is amazing from start to finish and is by far their must popular and successful album. This album was released after the passing of the rev but still has much of his writing and songs he helped make. Fans of the scream avenged may be put off by this album as well as the self titled (white album) MY personal Fav. but this band does what they want and when they get bored the mix it up. Their music stays fresh and doesn't get old. One of the reasons I listen to them constantly! Get this... you will not be disappointed!
Nightmare is a cd that appeals to all ages of rockers. The band has kinda a hair metal sound. The metal sound with the vocals and hard driving guitar, and double bass drum runs, really flows with the hair band clear melodies. This all combines to create a sound that you can listen to over and over again. You can hear strong influences from some of the best metal bands of the past, while maintaining their own sound. Avenged Sevenfold is no doubt the best metal band today, and will rank in the top 10 of all time in my book and this comes from a 50+ yr old!!!
This album is very fast and heavy with slower deep moving parts blended perfectly. It is very technical precise and clean, most songs changing as they progress with a wide range of sounds working well together. This album is closest to the last, self titled album as far as style and writing. I highly recomend it, and then buy all of the previous albums. The 1st 2 are a bit heavier and not as "mass appealing" as the later 3, but still awesome! R.I.P. Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, My favorite drummer! & thanks to Mike Portnoy for stepping in, so we can hear this album and see the rest of the guys live. AVENGED SEVENFOLD foREVer
A7X is one of the best and in my opinion...most underrated bands ever. Yes they take a lot of time between albums, but they're always worth it to true fans. Awesome album. R.I.P. The Rev
