I bought this product to replace my low (low) end Android phone (HTC Wildfire) that wasn't giving me much satisfaction anymore. The main appeal for this phone was that it was a best selling product back in the days of... 2010? And therefore modding the phone was quite easy. I've since installed the CyanogenMod Ice Cream Sandwich (latest Android version) on it... and it rocks! Fast, classy and fully functional. What I like about the phone is its petite size (compared to the notepad size phones of today) the quality of the screen and the fact that it goes through pretty much everything I throw at it without gasping for air. The battery life is ok, I must be getting between 24 to 36 hours of usage in normal conditions... which is, in my experience pretty average. Obviously, having changed the original operating system, the phone is slightly different to what it was intended to be but changing the ROM is pain free and worth the 30 minutes you'll be spending doing it. This is a fabulous phone, maybe I am biased as I love anything Samsung as they are so easy. I paid over the odds for this phone because it was loaded with some software called Cynagen whatever. It ended up having to be erased as we broke the phone. Otherwise it is a fab phone and wouldn't be without it. I have a Samsung tablet and this phone is virtually the same. I am 58 and wary of new gadgets but this is so easy and has lots of downloads.
I already knew which phone I wanted as I had read all reviews and done some online research. I had problems using a small phone and probably dropped it half a dozen times a day - despite this it kept bouncing back which encouraged me to look for another Samsung. The size of the screen is perfect for me and it is very responsive and fast. Some features I have found harder to set up and find but getting used to it now. Decent camera too. I would definitely reccommend this for both those less used to smartphones and to anyone who can really find their way around one. So many features and apps that you would always be able to find what you need. I looked at many other makes and this one kept shinning through and I have not regretted my purchase
I bought this phone as an affordable way to make myself a Cyanogenmod phone as per the Free Software Foundation Europe's 'Free your Android' initiative. The phone was exactly as described by 'average condition.' Namely a few fine scuff marks around the power button. I had bought a gel case and a screen protector to hide any cosmetic imperfections as the seller recommends. However, although I am using them, the scuff marks were so fine they were hidden by natural skin oils from my fingers by using the phone. The phone preforms excellently under Cyanogenmod 10.1 (Android Jelly Bean 4.2). It is much faster than the stock Samsung Android. True I don't have the apps Samsung lards into the phone on top of Android, but, I know from my previous smartphones I don't use those kind of apps. I love Cyanogenmod's addition of FLAC (lossless audio) support and a graphic equaliser for all sound apps. It means I can compensate for effects of age and industrial noise on my hearing and listen to full CD quality music as the artist intended anywhere. A must for any Audiophile smartphone owner. A 32GB microSD I added to the phone provides room for a plentiful choice of music. I've had three smartphones before this one. I had lost trust in phone manufacturers' ability to ensure basic software quality. Armed with Cyanogenmod this is the first one that hasn't had significant bugs. Plus of course, I'm saving the environment by using a secondhand phone. A great win at an affordable price.Read full review
Hi, I bought this phone as a gift for a teenager. The teenager mentioned LOVES IT!! So much so that we hardly see him!!He says it is as good as having a PC with you and loves all the info available and the games.Really cannot fault it. I highly reccommend this phone for anyone with a teenager and may even get one for myself!Simple to use, good sized touch-screen. Teenager says "It's the best phone I've had!", which is high praise indeed!
