Bill Cosby's album Why Is There Air? (1965) demonstrates the fine art of humor and story-telling, without being crass. Cosby seizes on the awkward moments of his formative years from kindergarten through junior high school and on into college. His use of voice characterizations, imagery, and sound effects accelerate the laughs throughout each routine. Because Cosby based this album on his personal reflections of his Philadelphia childhood and adolescence most Baby Boomers will listen, when they can hear the comedian through their own laughter, with the satisfaction of persons who have shared the same experiences. In an age when comedians stack up four-letter words up like bricks in a wall, this album stands out as the PERFECT purchase for both aspiring stand-ups who want to learn how to be funny without being crass and families who are looking for a way to spend an entertaining evening together without being hypnotized by the television.Read full review

This is a classic. This album was played over and over by my brothers, my father and myself. Back when you could spend 45 minutes in a car, with your family, and laugh together. When comedy was able to be shared as a family.
I enjoy Bill Cosby and I bought it for my son's birthday. Classic Bill, which is always a good product. I haven't listened to it personally, but it has the OK from my family as being a great CD. They enjoy what CD's they have heard from Bill Cosby.
I had this record album a long time ago, and it has scratches and is fuzzy. I was very happy when I saw it available on CD. It is very funny.
