I love this product. Makes the drudgery of taping a breeze. Applies a layer of mud to back of tape -- cut and adhere to drywall. It is that simple. Of note: The mud could use a weight or a pushdown in the bath holding area. That is why the mud in the photo is to the top. I wonder if a brick wrapped in cellophane would keep the pushdown of mud consistent. I kept the tape strips cut to about 1 ½ feet in length because the mud does get thin at longer pulls. After first use and upon drying the next day it required only minor resealing on some tape areas that did not adhere. With experience it will get better. Pretty easy cleanup and a definite time saver. Worth $38? ... I guess they need to pay off the initial mold dye. I can see the price coming down in future or perhaps with competition because this is a winner.Read full review

only thing if your using a new roll of tape i would recommend using a tube or something to support the roll instead of letting it just sit in the tray. love this thing.

We contacted the buyer smokey63 that noted this "messy" comment. After several e-mails and he realized that he didn't have the tool set up correctly resulting in the mud leaking from the tool. He claims there was no "insert" in the end of the tool to cut out when it arrived. The TapeBuddy is a one piece molded part when shipped and the insert needed to be cut out of the tool and placed in the slide. This "insert" is what controls the amount of mud applied to the tape. Without this insert placed as per the instructions the tool will do what he says. Since Smokey threw the tool away we couldn't help him with the issue or verify that the insert was missing. We believe it was an oversight of not noticing the tool needed this step in the tool set up. We are sure the tool was sent in new condition from Hartville Tools with the insert still intact as they sell a lot of these. The tool works as advertised when the set up is followed. We are sure it will work for anyone when these sets are followed. You can read more user comments on our website at TapeBuddy .netRead full review

If you thin your mud like the directions call for. Pull out the tape at a normal speed. Keep the mud box full you will have amazing results. It saved a increadable amount of time and there was no dropped mess. I really could beleive it.
