I'm not entirely onboard with the Ring Doorbell. It's a good camera and the intercom seems to work well for a VOIP device, HOWEVER... 1) It is far too sensitive. I have the sensitivity turned down as far as possible and yet school buses and garbage trucks set it off every time; large or loud pickups going by also set off the alarm. ...and no, my door is not all that close to the street! 2) It takes a long time to connect. When the motion sensor is triggered by someone actually on my porch, it takes so long connecting to the device that the mail-man is already three or four doors down the street. 3) The doorbell feature doesn't always work. On the plus side, the battery charge lasts a couple of weeks.

This Ring Gen 2 is a definite upgrade in Video quality (now 1080p vs was 720p) over the 1st Gen. The connection to existing wiring is a step backwards from 1st Gen. In fact it's a PIA if your leads are short. Its Motion detection is is somewhat slower than Gen 1. That is my only gripe, but I'll get over it. I'm not concerned that the battery is not easily interchangeable, since the Ring is connected to my old doorbell power.

I'm over joyed to now have a great view of my front door and driveway. I can share access with my daughter so someone can always view images immediately and take any needed actions. Poach pirates beware. I also joined the Neighborhood so I can be aware of abnormal activity surrounding me.

Was as described, and provides good security. Would recommend getting Ring Pro Chime so you can hear the doorbell when someone rings the doorbell or simply is dected by the motion sensor.
