I bought this model clock online in 2013. Within a year the quarter hour chimes would go out of sync. I was able to take it to a clock repair shop to have it repaired and the factory sent a new movement for the clock repair shop to install a new movement in the clock, worked fine for a while and the same thing happened again. I took it back to the clock repair shop and the factory once again sent another movement for them to install and still am having the same problem. The clock repair shop is saying the the windup spring is too short because it goes out of sync towards the end of the week and cannot get a full wind, so they said to wind the clock twice a week and I am still having the same problem. I cannot figure out why Howard Miller cannot fix the problem. I do not recommend this clock! I want a clock that will work and if I buy another model wall clock similar to it how will I know that it will work correctly. If I buy another clock it will be through the clock repair shop so they will guarantee their work and be more likely to work on it.Read full review

I bought a used one of these at Goodwill of all places for $40, cleaned/polished it, and it looked like new. I wound it up and it started working immediately. Took awhile to fine tune it for keeping accurate time. Finally tuned it and it would keep great time and beautiful chimes for past 9 days per wind (8 day clock). Kept it for 3/4's of a year then sold it. Beautiful clock, I kinda miss it. I own/love a lot of 100+ year old US clocks, but really liked this one for being a newer German movement. I feel badly that the other reviewer had issues multiple times with his, I apparently got a good one.
