Produced and Directed by Sydney Pollack, OUT OF AFRICA is without doubt a Ladies Picture. Meryl Streep plays the Wife who marries a philandering Klaus Maria Brandauer, who in return for his wifes family fortune, devotion, and love, gives her a Title,Venereal Disease, and little else. It starts "I owned a farm in Africa"........and for the next 3 hours we meet a cross section of characters from all walks of life who made up the Old Africa of a century ago. Robert Redford plays the part of a free and easy going adventurer, and Michael Kitchen of FOYLE'S WAR fame, plays a questionable pillar of society. This is GREAT ENTERTAINMENT if you can watch it uninterrupted on a good size T.V. screen. On Commercial T.V. it just didn't work for anyone. This version is the best you will ever find and makes it easier to understand the plot. Highly Recommended. DAVE COX Read full review
