You get what you pay for. This is a very good tripod head for the price. Both panning and tilting is smooth, and the tension control, while rudimentary, allows one to tune the resistance to motion. It is made almost entirely of plastic, but it is still a solid head, and will easily hold a few kilograms. A heavier payload than rated may stress it and is not recommended, but it is perfect for lighter set ups. The main issue with this head is that it is made entirely of plastic, which means that there is a lot of play involved in the moving parts. Because of this, the start and end of any pans/tilts executed on this head aren't as smooth as more robust video heads. Even the base plate (that attaches to the tripod) is made of plastic, which is concerning for the longevity of the product. Another issue is that of the quality control. My unit has some air gaps in the greasing, so whenever I pan, you can hear the air moving around and it makes little popping noises which will definitely be picked up by microphones. If you plan on doing more serious work with these, I suggest re-greasing them first. But, of course, I got this tripod head brand new for under $30AUD, and at that price the plastic construction and slight issues with quality control are easy to overlook. This tripod head does exactly as it intends, provides a reasonably smooth and stable platform for your photography and videography at a very reasonable price.Read full review
