EXODUS (1960) way back then I read the book and saw the movie, and longed to see it again. On DVD it is just as inspiring especially now that a battle rages for a homeland once more. Leon Uris wrote the fiction story of this occurrence. It is glamorous and heroic, and the exhausted people finally made it to Tel Aviv. In 1947, thousands of Jews holocaust survivors were held by the British on Cyprus. Ari Ben, a rebel, obtained a cargo ship and smuggled 611 Jewish inmates to Palestine, under impossible circumstances. A hunger strike on board convinced the English to release the ship, and away they sailed. After the horrors of World War II that had been suffered in so many different countries, they were hoping for safety and freedom at last. It is a challenging movie but behind it is the true story of people looking for a home.Read full review
