This boxed set is really good value for money. As the title suggests, it's about death and funerals, but don't let this deter you. It is also about life and being a living human in relationship. There are many themes and threads, all of them absorbing and thought provoking. Acting is marvellous, helped by Alan Ball's astute writing. There is plenty of pathos, but lots of humour too, but it doesn't pull any punches. Even though it is formatted in the "square" aspect ratio, the show itself and the characters, writing and production values, are so engaging and interesting, that the lack of widescreen doesn't matter. It's setup is great too, as each episode has a synopsis which is really interesting to read first and says who directs and writes each episode. I am loving it and highly recommend it.
