SO easy to set up especially as I am not good with computers, I was a little daunted at the beginning but I really wanted to see The Crown before the big wedding, so I purchased the Google Chromecast Ultra and I set it up within 10 minutes, including downloading the Netflix app. It was so easy and I can now watch so many shows that I could not get with Foxtel.

Everything seemed easy to download and setup. Working step by step, was much easier to follow and once locked to a TV, worked great. Too Easy ! The next time I tried to cast to TV, no success. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, still nothing. Moved TV to check chromecast, found I could fry eggs on it, it was that hot. Decided to have bacon and eggs for breakfast, then plug back in when chromecast cooled down a bit. Yup, worked again, but after an hour, checked chromecast to find that it had begun to boil the water for a coffee. Decided to have a coffee and throw chromecast, just watch on phone instead and leave Mr 10yo to play Xbox on the TV. Yup, all working great now and chromecast is not even getting hot...…...

If you have warmed up to the Google Chromecast HD, you would love the Ultra 4K. Set up is much the same as the HD but connection & speed seem superior. 4K support obviously is the selling feature & it impresses!

Picture and sound is great - the big problem is Google - you have to login to use which opens the privacy issue. It also sucks network bandwidth when not in use. It is only powered up when needed. If you're happy with google knowing everything you are watching, get one. The need to login is absurd. Use a cable between your PC and TV/entertainment system and google is none the wiser.

Its a good product for the price. It has its quirks though. It came back on 10 mins after I shut it down a few nights back. I dont know what happened and its only happened once so far. It would be nice with a more thorough set of instructions. I like how it cuts out 95% of the ads on youtube. Its compact and inconspicuous with a lack of wiring.The menu page is ok but could be improved.
