Great product and easy to read screen in sunlight.

Be sure to verify the Megellan unit you buy includes map updates, otherwise you'll be lost. Also take spare batteries and get a set of rechargeable ones.

  • I have 3 Meridian GPS Units, Triton is by far the best

It's design and ease of use. Love the fact that NATGEO Maps interface well with it. You will need to update the version of National Geographic Maps to make it recognize the Triton, but once that is done, it works great. Buttons a little stiff, but the touch screen is very well designed and makes navigating around the screen much easier. Battery life is good to very good and the background light makes reading the unit very easy in low light situations. One flaw is that the Triton does not erase all the tracks, but on the zoom out, it is of no consequence. On a scale of 1 to 10 and 10 being the best, I will give this unit a 9.5

  • I love the Magellan 1500.

Before I purchased the 1500, I read may reviews online and did my homework. I was a bit skeptical as most of the reviews were negative. I found that these reviewers just did not take the time to explore the menus to see how to operate it. It isn't difficult. I suppose that they likely used the product for less than 5 minutes, because that is how long it took me to learn to use all of the functions. This unit tracks very well, even while flying aircraft at around 115mph. There is no problem with the Topo maps. I really like the ability to use an external antenna, and the SD card memory capability. It is also possible to purchase SD cards with maps already loaded that include Topo of two entire states (available on ebay). Also this CD comes with an emergency program incase the unit fails, ...

  • Great pro quality GPS if your willing to learn to use it

The Triton series GPS units tend to function like pro units and usability can be complicated, although the 1500 is pro and the better of the series. The 2000 is only an upgrade if your looking for a camera, all other features are pretty much the same as the 1500. I started on the Triton 300, and then upgraded to the 1500. Past usability, the GPS unit is very good and accurate, I've been using it to plot land and never had it fail on me once. It functions well at speeds of 70mph in a car and spot on with homemade and purchased maps against a gov land map. I have used other GPS units and the Triton 1500 seems to function quicker and more accurate then other brands. I have read that people have had issues with the screen in sunlight, but I found adjusting the the brightness will over come ...

  • Magellan 1500

We like our Magellan 1500 and use it here in Alaska for trekking through the wilderness on snow machines. We need to bring extra batteries though. When setting it up and updating the files it is not very user friendly, same with National Geo maps. We had to figure out how to download and display maps on our own. We are still trying to figure out how to erase unwanted treks and use many other features. The Magellan 1500 needs a detailed user manual, I mean details on how to use each feature on each screen in each section.
